Market Kicks Off 2009 Season

The first day of the market saw a tremendous turnout of food vendors, and fresh produce was plentiful.

2009 Market Begins Sat., June 13th!

The time is finally here: our first market
day–Saturday, June 13th, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.,
behind the curling rink in Upper Gibsons.
Come on out and show your support for all
the vendors and volunteers who’ve worked
so hard to make this ‘fun’ food security
initiative a reality.

As usual, we’ll be having live music, fresh veggies, locally produced goods and fun for the whole family. I’m also pleased to announce that we will once again be participating in the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Project — more information on this program can be found here:

www.bcfarmersmarket.org/ind/fmncp.htm

Our local counterparts who will distribute the coupons will be the ‘Bellies & Babies’ program out of Community Services, and the Gibsons Health Unit.

Also, don’t forget that we have a consignment table set up for all of you backyard gardeners. So bring down all those extra zucchinis and plums, share them with the community, and go home with a bit of extra cash. How easy could it be?

Finally, I’d like to put out a call for picnic tables. We need some for the market this year, so if anyone has an old one they’d like to donate, we’d be happy to come and pick it up.

If you have any questions about visiting or vending at the market, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks and see you down at the market!
